Pet Architecture : a term Atelier Bow-Wow use to describe buildings that have been squeezed into left over urban spaces - alleyways, sidewalk garden patches, in-between spaces, abandoned buildings, etc. These buildings are often cheaply built, but we are attracted to their unique presence, existing in the most unexpected places.
This project employs the concept of pet architecture to revitalize long-forgotten spaces in Seattle, bringing them back to life.
Site : South Lake Union, Seattle
The South Lake Union (SLU) area of Seattle has undergone dramatic changes in recent years, driven by the influx of tech companies, which have shaped the area's current architectural landscape. While this surge in technology-driven development has brought economic prosperity and innovation to Seattle, it has also resulted in the neglect of community spaces, leading to concerns over the area's sense of place and social cohesion.
The following proposed architecture transforms an abandoned warehouse and lot in SLU into a vibrant community hub for Seattleites and tourists.
